THREE QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE IF YOUR ROOF NEEDS REPLACING
Admin • July 21, 2016
Sometimes a leak in your roof can be localized and simply repaired. Other times, it is necessary to replace the entire roof. How you answer the following questions can allow you to make the right decision on repairing versus replacing your roof.
1. HOW OLD IS YOUR ROOF?
While each roof can be different, most roofs need to be replaced after 20 or 25 years. Depending on where you live, they may need replaced more frequently, but the majority of roofs will not last longer than 25 years.

2. WHAT IS THE STATE OF YOUR SHINGLES?
Several issues your shingles may have can indicate it is time to replace your roof. Some of these issues include:
- Shingles warping
- Shingles falling apart
- Missing shingles
- Shingles losing granules
Any of these problems requires further investigation to see if there is a pattern of decay throughout the roof or if it is a localized issue.
3. DO YOU HAVE ROOF DECAY?
If your roof bounces or sinks in when someone walks on it, it can be an indicator of rot underneath. When water seeps into the wood beneath the shingles, it will most likely cause decay, and the roof may need replacing.
Water leaks are important to prevent, as they can cause further damage to your house and possessions if not fixed quickly. If you are unaware of the condition of your roof, it is definitely worth looking into. To get started on a roof replacement, contact Jupiter Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc. today.
